Week 26- The Best is Yet to Come!

The Journey is Just Beginning~

It’s hard to believe that my Masterkey Experience (MKE) is about to end, after six months on this journey together.  I’ve enjoyed being part of the journey with over 200 people from all around the world.  When I’m doing my reading, lessons and exercises, I know I’m not alone and have felt a kinship with my fellow colleagues on this journey.  We have been changed over the course of time, as a result of this journey, and have set in motion the principles and habits needed to achieve our definite major purpose (DMP) in life.  When we began, most of us couldn’t even tell another person exactly what their DMP was.  Progress, is achieved one day at a time, by implementing the necessary habits that create the desired outcome. This is not the ‘end’ but this is the beginning of the rest of our journey!

Many of us have never blogged, tweeted or spent daily personal time intentionally focusing on what we want in life.  This weekly blog was set in motion months ago, as a requirement of the mastermind.  I’ve enjoyed penning my thoughts and the things I’ve been learning in my MKE, and I’m appreciative of all those who have read my blog and taken time to share their thoughts with me.  It’s been a fantastic experience for me! If you’ve never been a part of Mark and Davene’s MKE, I encourage you to be a part of the next class.  It is the best ‘self-discovery’ course you’ll embark upon, as they bring the best resources to the course, to help you achieve what you were born to accomplish.  It’s worthwhile, and you are worth it!

My Parting Thoughts~

Everyone of us on this journey, had a different starting place that was shaped by our past experiences, beliefs, and relationships. Over the course of the past six months, we’ve read Haanel’s masterkey lessons, we’ve watched videos, we’ve read through six scrolls in Og Mandino’s ‘The Greatest Salesman’ and have learned many of the success principles while at the same time implementing success habits into our lives.  Since success principles originate from God’s (Universal Mind) principles, we cannot succeed if we defy His success laws. Therefore, all the characteristics of success are a reflection of His love, His truths and His traits. So, what is the first law of success?  It is service that is built on integrity and justice.  When we draw upon God’s infinite supply, He gives us creative ideas, that we can manifest in material form, beginning with the general outline to the finished form.  It’s a great partnership, and it works when we draw upon His resources.

So, I believe the ‘best is yet to come!’ I’m excited to continue on my journey, and to accomplish that which God had in mind, when He created me. Thanks for being a part of my journey!

Shalom~

Week 25- Be Not Conformed~

Conformity or Deepest Desire?

As a child, we were true to ourselves. When we were upset, we cried; when we were happy, everyone knew by the smile on our face; when we were scared, we cried.  Eventually, we learned to conform to the norms, with each passing year.  The educational system, discourages ‘genius’ by teaching to the average student.  It’s all backwards and counterintuitive, to what is truly satisfying to the soul of each person. In our mastermind, we are rediscovering our true, authentic self……the person God had in mind when He created us, with unique gifts to share with the world.  Conformity is a curse to the soul of each person, making us agreeable to each other, so we all see life through the same lens.  We are told in Romans 8:1, “Be not conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is the acceptable, good and perfect will of God.”  To conform is to put on the form, fashion, appearance 0f another person.  We were never intended to be a ‘copy of a copy’ but instead we are unique and made in the image of God.  Our minds are to be renewed, which has a transforming effect upon us, just as we’ve learned and experienced in our mastermind. After years of conformity to societal norms, it takes purposeful new ‘input’ to dilute all the mental garbage that has accumulated in our mind, over the years.

Is Change Really Possible?

Mark asked Davena, if she wanted a different life or if she wanted to improve the life she had.  This is a great question to ponder.  Most people want relief or less stress, so they can alleviate discomfort. To have the life you really want to live, most people have some housekeeping to do.  The past does not have to define the future, nor do circumstances.  You get to define your future, and it is contingent on the choices you make today.  In our mastermind, we read daily from Og Mandino’s first book, “The Greatest Salesman” which has sold millions of copies.  I’ve read multiple books of Og Mandino’s and he is one of my favorite authors in his genre.  Many years back, when I read his book, “A Better Way to Live” I was shocked to learn that Og’s life had gotten so low, that he considered ending it. He lost his job, his wife and daughter, and everything he held dear in his life. During his hour of need, his mother’s voice came to mind, that Og would be a great writer one day.  He went to the local library to do some thinking and reading. One book that made a difference in his life was, “Success Through a Positive Mental Attitude” by W. Clement Stone and Napolean Hill.  It was different than all the other ‘success’ books that promised fast change in acquiring wealth. Stone and Hill said, “You can accomplish anything you wish that is not contradictory to the laws of God or man, providing you are willing to pay a price.”  This is what gave him hope and helped him on the journey to the life he wanted to live.

So, the answer to the question, “is change really possible?” is personal.  It’s a choice.  Change is possible, but it must be desired and pursued. Emerson, in ‘Self-Reliance’ said, “insist on yourself; never imitate.  Your own gift you can present every moment with the cumulative force of a whole life’s cultivation; but of the adopted talent of another, you have only an extemporaneous, half-possession.  That which each can do best, none but his Maker can teach him.” We each have to find our heart, that oft neglected part of our being, that we have buried within. The expression ‘half-hearted’ is not complementary, yet when we conform to societal standards, we lose our heart. Start today, to cultivate your dreams. Be true to your ideals and your unique gifts, bestowed upon you by your Creator.  Live the life you were meant to live!

Week 24- Love is in the Air!

Love Multiplies~

This is a very special week for me, as the first of my six children is getting married, tomorrow! It reminds me that although our journey has had serious bumps in the road, most people desire the same thing in life…..to be loved for who we are.  We travel the ‘road of life’ with two different tracks beside us; the one to our left side is ridden with challenges, bad experiences, fear, and other daunting challenges and the road on our right side has all the good memories and experiences, the blessings and good things that happen along life’s journey.  Both of these roads travel with us, and the person we are today, has been shaped by all of those collective things and the choices that we made at each juncture in our path.

So, I will be dining tonight with the wedding party and the respective families.  If it weren’t for my son’s wedding, I would never again be in a social setting with some of the invited guests. But, I am not the same person I was seven years ago. I’ve learned a lot of things and as Helen Reddy sang, many years ago……….

Oh yes, I am wise
But it’s wisdom born of pain
Yes, I’ve paid the price
But look how much I gained
If I have to, I can do anything
I am strong
I am invincible
I am woman

Og’s words will guide me, “If I feel fear, I will plunge ahead. If I feel inferior, I will wear new garments. If I feel incompetent, I will remember past success. If I feel insignificant, I will remember my goals. Today, I will be master of my emotions.”  No one else can ‘shake my booty’ unless I allow them to do so.  I am ready to celebrate with my son and rejoice in his future.

My prayer is that as a new family is birthed tomorrow, love is multiplied.  Give love to receive love. It’s really simple when you focus on the virtues that you want, not on the things that accompany your journey on the ‘left’ side of life.  Life is mixed with the good and the bad, but there is a promise in God’s word, found in Romans 8:28 “We know that all things work together for good, to them that love God, and are called according to His purpose.”

What track are you focused on, the left or the right? The good or the bad? Do you need to get back on track?  It’s a daily choice which yields the life we choose……..yes, it’s our choice, so choose wisely!

Shalom…….

Week 23- Be Still and Know~

The Art of Listening~

It’s interesting how life unfolds. Sometimes the timing of events and the things we hear or learn at a given moment, are impeccably timed….another reminder that God is intimately acquainted with each of us, and involved in our lives.  Most of the time, we aren’t aware of this fact, as we live most of our lives on auto-pilot.  Our worlds are getting noisier with more distractions than ever, and right at our fingertips.  We no longer have to wait to get to our computer to access our emails, visit a website or purchase something online.  Our mobile phone puts us in touch with anything and everything, anytime we want.

In our MKMMA a couple weeks ago, we learned from the Stanford Report dated August 24, 2009, that media multi-taskers pay a mental price.  They take in a lot of information from multiple media sources and are distracted by everything and can’t filter out irrelevant information or organize their memories. As a person who has always been know to have an excellent memory, I can attest to the fact, that my memory seems to be scattered all over the place at times, because I’m a media multi-tasker.  Until reading this article, I thought it was an asset but am working on ‘turning it off’ and taking a media-fast.  There is no end to the information that we all have access to in our world, and it competes with our definite major purpose in life.

This past week, I got to observe and learn more about myself, as I had a day in court coming up, which brings up anxiety and fearful emotions.  I was having a conversation with a friend, who’s an attorney, and he was talking through some of the items.  He expressed that he could hear that my emotions were strong, and was trying to help me see this was a simple issue and giving me some great tips.  He asked me a question, but I apparently went off on a different tangent and he stopped me and asked me to repeat the question he had asked me.  I could not remember and repeated a question he had asked me, ‘two questions’ earlier! Next, he told me I need to immediately practice listening and answer only the question that is being asked.  No more, no less.  I’m not in 4th grade, but I’m not sure why I didn’t learn this in 4th grade!  It seems rather elementary, but I’ve been observing myself and seeing areas where I can definitely improve, and listening is one of them.

Scroll VI~

A new month has arrived, and so we have a new scroll to read, from Og Mandino’s “The Greatest Salesman” which reads, “Today I will be the master of my emotions. And how will I master these emotions so that each day will be productive? For unless my mood is right, the day will be a failure.  Trees and plants depend on the weather to flourish, but I make my own weather, yea I transport it with me. If I bring rain and gloom and darkness and pessimism to my customers, then they will react with rain and gloom and darkness and pessimism, and they will purchase naught.  If I bring joy and enthusiasm and brightness and laughter to my customers, they will react with joy and enthusiasm and brightness and laughter, and my weather will produce a harvest of sales and a granary of gold for me.  Today, I will be master of my emotions. And how will I master my emotions so that every day is a  happy day, and a productive one?  I will learn this secret of the ages.  Weak is he who permits his thoughts to control his actions; strong is he who forces his actions to control his thoughts.”

So, my journey continues and I’m going to be focused on the word listen. Not only will I continue to start my day listening to God, but I will slow down my quick-thinking mind, and listen to what others are saying and not be in a hurry to speak. This week, we learned how to convert the negative emotions we experience, and use it as a tool to continue moving toward our bliss…….the things we desire in our lifetime.  So, when fear shows up in my world, I will use it to my benefit since fear releases chemicals in our body that gives us energy to take action. When we use things constructively, there really isn’t much we can’t accomplish!

Week 22- God Above All~

Only God is God~

In the beginning, God…Genesis 1:1.  That’s where it all starts, with God.  For some, it takes a lifetime to discover God, yet He has planted ‘eternity’ in the hearts of all mankind.  We look at the magnificence of His creation………the earth, plants, flowers, animals, sun, moon and stars, the galaxies, and the crowning glory of all that He created–mankind, and something from within wants to know how all this came to be.  A watch has a watch-maker; a boat has a boat-maker, etc., therefore the logical conclusion to the philosophical question of life, is that there is a grand Creator designer.  Psalm 1:1 states, ‘The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands.  Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge.” In Isaiah 42:8 God says, “I am the LORD (Jehovah); that is my name! I will not yield my glory to another or my praise to idols.”

What a wonderful thing it is, that God communicates with His creation and wants a relationship with us. He didn’t create us, then leave us to ourselves, but has given us His word and universal truths.  Life operates by universal laws and principles which reflect God’s character.  Can you imagine life without gravity? All the physical things we see, would all be crashing into each other in the atmosphere, somewhere.  Nothing would be consistent.  The sun makes it’s daily circuit.  Can you imagine how life would be much different if that was not a ‘constant’ daily occurrence?  Life would be random, seasons would be upset, time would not exist in equal portions; and many other things would be different.  Did you ever think of the word ‘universe?’ When you consider the latin roots, you have ‘uni and verbum’ which literally means ‘one word.’ We get the word ‘verb’ from verbum, which denotes an ‘action.’  I can’t help but think that with ‘one word’ God created our universe! He ‘spoke’ and it was!  No other person has this kind of power or authority.  Today, in our culture, ‘science’ has become the authority.  The word ‘science’ simply means ‘to know’ and in our educational system, it is a field of knowledge. If God created all life, doesn’t God have authority over all?  Science, is the discovery of the truths and physical laws of all that God has created in our universe. To ‘know’ something is much different than to ‘create’ something, which God, at will can do.

To Each, His Own~

So, why the musing over God? If you’ve been following my blog posts, you’ve read some of the things happening in my world. This past week, my siblings and I communicated to our brother, numerous reasons we oppose his second marriage, which happens as I’m writing this blog. He is proceeding with the marriage.  Blend all this with my MKMMA journey, the master key lessons by Haanel, reading the scroll written by Og Mandino, and there’s a lot of ideas……..some new, some old, some good, some bad.  Each person has to sort out all the ideas and decide what they regard as valuable and how it will be integrated in their life.  We each have our own beliefs and experiences which contribute to our personal frame of reference….which makes us unique.  Some of what we believe, have their origins in our families, and the culture where we grew up.  Sometimes we wonder, ‘Who is this person? Did they come from the same family?’ At the end of the day, we each have our own choices to make.  ‘To each, his own’ seems to be the best summation, as we each reap what we’ve sown. In the end, we answer to the ‘final authority’, not to each other.

For me, it all starts with….‘In the beginning, God.” After all, He was the only person in ‘the beginning’ because He is eternal, and at some point in eternity past, decided to start ‘the beginning of the history of mankind and our world.’  So, all that I read, is sorted through the filter of God’s truth, before I adopt it as ‘my own.’ I don’t choose certain behaviors, to ‘move the hand of God’ but realize that God does have a plan for my life and it’s not always just to ‘rubber stamp’ my plans. I can’t help but think of an American man, husband and father of two, who sits in prison, tortured the past two years for his beliefs. He wanted good things in life, just like we desire.  Who has an answer to ‘why is he suffering and I live my life freely?’ Yet, in his prison, he still holds true to his beliefs. Freedom of conscience and freedom of beliefs, is one of the highly esteemed freedoms our great Constitution gave Americans. This is a sacred right which no man can take from us.

In a free society, which we have today, there’s a lot I can do, and change in my life….and this MKE has been an amazing journey and has contributed greatly to my life.  It’s soon going to be over, but the things that I’ve learned and added to my life, will continue. I’m excited about my future and scared at the same time………but perhaps it’s the same emotion?  I’ve started venturing into the unknown, new territories for me, which is where all great adventures happen.

Thanks to those companions who have been on this MKMMA journey with me, and thanks to those who have followed my blog.  May life be rich for you.  Follow your dreams and share your life with others.

Week 21- ‘Thoughts’ Matter

The ‘Law’ of Thoughts~

You may already realize this, but did you know that your thoughts really do matter?  Even those private thoughts that reside quietly inside your mind? Good thoughts, bad thoughts, positive messages or negative messages…….they all have powerful effects upon our lives.  As a matter of fact, there is a universal law as it pertains to thoughts that none of us can escape.  Really? Indeed! First, we must begin to understand the power of thoughts and their effect upon our lives. Scriptures tell us in Proverbs 23:7, “As a man thinketh in his heart, so he is.” James Allen, in his popular book “As a Man Thinketh” said, “Every thought seed sown or allowed to fall into the mind, and to take root there, produces its own, blossoming sooner or later into act, and bearing its own fruitage of opportunity and circumstance. Good thoughts bear good fruit, bad thoughts bad fruit. The outer world of circumstances shapes itself to the inner world of thought, and both pleasant and unpleasant external conditions are factors which make for the ultimate good of the individual.  As the reaper of his own harvest, man learns both by suffering and bliss.”

This is both good news and bad news, depending on where you are at in life.  If you are inclined to take the role of the victim, and blame others for where your life is at today, then this is really bad news.  It goes without saying, that the converse is true: If you take personal responsibility for your choices, then this is really good news.  There is no way around the fact that each person bears personal responsibility for his or her thoughts and actions. Once you understand the law of thought, you can change the direction your life is heading.

Each day, in our MKMMA, we read aloud, I realize the dominating thoughts of my mind will eventually reproduce themselves in outward, physical action, and gradually transform themselves into physical reality. Therefore (as a result of this truth), I will concentrate my thoughts for 30 minutes each day, upon the task of thinking of the person I intend to become, thereby creating in my mind, a clear mental picture of that person.”  This is a very powerful exercise!

Thoughts Have Consequences~

In our lesson this week, Haanel taught us  that “Thought which is in harmony with the Universal Mind (God) will result in corresponding conditions.  Thought which is destructive or discordant will produce corresponding results.  You may use thought constructively or destructively, but the immutable law will not allow you to plant a thought of one kind and reap the fruit of another.  You are free to use this marvelous creative power as you will, but you must take the consequences.”

Herein, we read the truth of this law of thought, and if we think we can live outside of this law and not reap the consequences, we are fooling ourselves.  This week was a challenging week, as one of my four siblings announced via email, to all of us siblings, that he was getting married in 21 days.  The circumstances of this situation are as follows:  his divorce to his wife of 25 years was final a month earlier; he has three children ages 17 to 22; the woman he is marrying has seven minor children with an ex-husband in jail for sexually molesting two of his young daughters; only one sibling and our mother met the prospective wife in a random, unplanned way; he has seen his own children just once a month since his separation.  Most people, would agree that these are not at all ‘favorable’ circumstances. Yet, he is resolute, to date, regarding his approaching marriage.  We all have made our individual, but unified response to our much-loved brother.  One thing is evident, ‘he has passed the responsibility for his actions, to a supposed group of ‘mentors’ that gave him the green light to date this ‘special’ woman during his entire separation, and to marry her.  He has put up a large barrier between himself and his choices.  In essence, he has placed himself and his mentors (if they even exist)  above God and God’s immutable laws.  I say that he is treading on dangerous ground, and will reap the consequences of his choices.

Where do you stand in regards to these immutable truths?  We all have our choices to make. Accept responsibility, take right action and watch your life unfold to create a beautiful tapestry…..if that is what your thoughts and actions are weaving.

Week 20- I Need a Miracle

Where is my Miracle?~

Timing is God’s specialty, and when things seem like nothing makes sense, or can possibly turn out well……..God is in control.  Yes, He is never caught by surprise, unlike us.  As a matter of fact, in my own personal life, He has shown up on three separate time over the past 7 years, on the same day of the year!  Who else could possibly orchestrate the timing of life events, which were very significant events in my life, on February 10th……….2007, 2008 and 2013? He even had a leap year, which gave God 366 days to work with, and yet it was February 10th.  So, yes….as I find myself at another ‘crux’ in life……….with circumstances that no one in there right mind would desire, I was looking for my miracle this past week, as February 10th slipped by once again, unnoticed. God has His ways, and His timing……and has got everything in my life, in the palm of His hand.  I’m still looking for my miracle, and there are incredible things, that are on my horizon that only God knows if they will materialize or not.  It’s all a part of my DMP, so I’m very eager to watch as ‘the film rolls forward!’

All these crazy things in my life, and it’s also no surprise to God, that I’m on this MKMMA journey…….and that last month I read in Og Mandino’s Scroll IV, that I am nature’s (God’s) greatest miracle.  Sometimes we look for the miracle, but we also must realize that we are God’s greatest miracle.  It’s so good to appropriate that truth, within our souls.  With His help, all things are possible! On that note, many wonderful things are taking place in my life, and I am grateful for all of those gifts and I acknowledge them……….and give thanks to God for them.

Now What?

Yes, now what shall I do? Considering this Great Master of Time, which He has generously given to each of us, for a designated period of time upon earth, and an eternity that continues after our passing, I press forward. In Philippians 3: 12-15, it states, “But one thing I do, forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Let those of us who are mature think this way, and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal that also to you.”  In Scroll V,  of Og Mandino’s book, The Greatest Salesman, my question is also answered from within its pages,  “I will live this day as if it is my last. What then shall I do? Forgetting yesterday, neither will I think of tomorrow.  Why should I throw now after maybe? Can tomorrow’s sand flow through the glass before today’s?  Will the sun rise twice this morning?  Can I perform tomorrow’s deeds while standing in today’s path?  Can I place tomorrow’s gold in today’s purse?  Can tomorrow’s child be born today?  Can tomorrow’s death cast its shadow backward and darken today’s joy?  Should I concern myself over events which I may never witness? Should I torment myself with problems that may never come to pass?  No! Tomorrow lies buried with yesterday, and I will think of it no more.  I will live this day as if it is my last…..and if it is not, I shall fall to my knees and give thanks!”

So, I continue on my journey……..to see all the exciting things that lie before me! The best is yet to come!

Week 19- Happiness is an ‘Inside Job’

Happiness is Determined Before the Effect~

This week started with a terrific Ted video, called “Wisdom of Play” by Shawn Achor, where Shawn shared some of the ‘secrets’ of happiness.  Most people are pursuing happiness, as if it were something to find ‘out there…….somewhere.’  We think that if we could have the thing we most desire, we’d be happy.  Yet, when we get it, our brain puts another ‘carrot’ in front of us, and now we’ve forgotten the last thing we needed to make us happy, and we begin to pursue the next thing; then the next, and so on.  It becomes a pattern in our brains, to keep pushing for the next thing. So, basically it develops into a pattern of discontent.  No wonder we aren’t happy when we get stuck in this rut!  Discontent is the opposite of happiness.

As Shawn Achor talks about in the video, we’ve all pretty much got it completely backwards.  Happiness is a cause, not an effect. It is not somethings we can pursue.  Oh, I suppose you can if you want to pursue it, but you’ll find it is futile, and will never bring you to the happiness and bliss you wish to have.

What does it Take to be Happy?

As most people know, it takes 21 days to create a habit.  Yes, we will fall off the wagon or get caught up in the affairs of life, but we must determine to walk on the path that leads to our bliss.  What each person desires may be different, but the journey is similar. I figured it out a month or so ago, that those of us on the MKMMA journey, are being set up for success.  We’ve been asked to do five things:  list three things we’re grateful for; perform random acts of kindness; recall a positive memory of the day; exercise so we reinforce within that our behavior matters; meditate each day.  These five things help to rewire and train our brain, creating new pathways.  In Shawn’s video, he shared this same list of five things, that will change your ‘happiness factor’ from within.  Doing these things on a daily basis, helps to reorient your mind, from a negative to a positive mindset.  Shawn said, “It’s not the reality that shapes us, but the lens through which the brain views the world that shapes your reality.  If we can change the lens, not only can we change our happiness, but we can change every educational and business outcome.”  That’s a very powerful statement!

Week 18- My Life, My Journey~

Breaking Free~

As we pass through each decade of life, there are new truths we’ve assimilated into our being. Some of those ‘truths’ are lessons we’ve learned from the things we’ve experienced; while some are opinions we’ve gathered along the way, and stored within; and sad to say, there are wrong ideas we’ve accepted as true, that could best be described as ‘heavy garments’ that weigh us down in life and keep us from running freely, the race we were meant to run towards our bliss.  Unfortunately, most people never learn that they had a race to run, and therefore live a life of relative insignificance or lives of quiet desperation.

Those of us in the MKE, are being led toward our bliss, which can be defined as the definite major purpose in our life, which we were created to do.  There is something buried deep within each of us, that calls out to us at various times in our life.  Most of us can’t hear this call,  this yearning from within…..because we’ve assimilated beliefs from others that drown out the ‘whisper from within.’ At different times on our journey, we may feel an emotional tug on our heart, but that’s as close as it may get.  Or, we watch an inspirational movie and see the courageous hero overcome many obstacles to achieve his prize.  This often moves us to tears, yet we don’t give much consideration as to what has touched our heart. This is as close as most people ever get, to hearing any call to greatness.

How is it possible any of us could miss  something so important in life, and hardly even be aware of it?  For about 95% of all people, it slips right through the cracks, because our ‘old blueprint’ and all those familiar thoughts we live with, are hard-wired within and have become our modus operandi.  Yes, the majority of people live their life on ‘auto pilot’ giving standard retorts, asking the same questions and having the same conversation 100 times, and talking about the miseries of work, the weather, and their favorite sports team, etc.  Changing the status quo is difficult, but sometimes the pain of staying the same, can become intolerable.  To have something different, we must do something different.  We must ask different questions, those that educe more from inside of us, such as ‘if I were to die today, would I have left anything unfinished or unspoken? The problem we each face, is getting too busy to even ‘think.’ Take time right now, and ponder this question. Don’t wait until you reach the end of your road, when death is imminent.  Isn’t it time to break free from all those heavy garments you’re wearing, and to detach from other people’s opinions of what your life should be? Isn’t it time to choose friends who encourage your gifts and talents, rather than the critics who dismiss and discourage you?  How about ridding yourself of procrastination and self-doubts that derail your best efforts?.  It’s easy to miss the ‘call to greatness’ and just continue on in life, on the road of mediocrity.  Change is a challenge to the ‘self’ that you have created, and will take great effort and determination to become the person you will respect.  It is worth every effort taken to become all that you were designed by God to be.

Beoming All that You Were Meant to Be~

Every hero comes to this juncture, this fork in the road, when they have to answer the call in their life.  There’s a restlessness within, that cannot be satisfied by the status quo.  They must answer the call upon their soul, a call to significance and meaning. By virtue of the fact that the hero answers this call, and leaves the ‘known’ behind him and presses onward into ‘uncharted’ trails, is precisely what makes him a hero.  We all love to watch heroes, because that’s the same call we have upon our own soul.  Although we don’t always consciously recognize our desire, this is precisely what we want in our own lives; to achieve that which we were put on earth to achieve. What is worth living for?  What gives you great joy in life? Answer these questions, so you can answer the call upon your life.  Take thehero’s journey.’  Only when we take this journey, and fulfill the mission, do we experience the true joy and satisfaction of a life well lived.

Are you willing to ‘figuratively’ die and leave the life you know?  Are you willing to separate yourself from those who pull you down with their words? Is the sacrifice of the hero’s journey worth it to you? Will you live a life of ‘no regrets’ or will you join the masses so you can feel comfortable ‘fitting in’ with them?

This is my life, and my journey, and I have made my choice.  You have your life, and thus your journey.  My encouragement is to think, to really think it through. It’s better to ask questions of yourself today, than to wait until you’re at the end of your life,  and begin to evaluate your life.  It will be too late, and regret will be your companion. You will have no one to blame for the choices you’ve made.

Thoughts are powerful, and if we can change our thoughts, we can change our world…..starting from within.

Take the journey you were meant to take. It’s the only journey that will truly fulfill your soul.

What will you decide when you come to the fork in the road, and hear a faint voice from within? Will you snuff it out, or will you yield your life to something greater than yourself? Only you can decide………

“I shall be telling this with a sigh, somewhere ages and ages hence:  two roads diverged in a wood and I– I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference!’     Robert Frost

Week 17- Shalom, God’s Intent~

In the Beginning…

Life is very interesting.  It had a starting point, carved out of eternity past by our magnificent Creator; Creator of all things living and the universe in which we all live. Within this world, each of us were birthed into life, in a unique homeland and a unique epoch of time.  Here we are, some on the MKMMA journey together…..some 250 or more people, from around this world.  Others, reading our journals, interested in what it is we are learning, and how it is transforming our life’s journey from here, forward.  Change doesn’t happen overnight, but it happens one day at a time, when something unique or different occurs in our life.  If nothing changes, nothing changes.

So, what was the plan from the beginning for our lives?  That, is a philosophical question, which each soul yearns to know the answer. I was quite taken by surprise, when my oldest child at around age 4 started asking me profound philosophical questions. When my second child, then third child, all the way down to the sixth child asked me the same questions when they too, were 4 or 5 years old, I knew that these ‘soul’ yearnings were planted by the Great One, who desires us to know the purpose of our lives. This MKMMA journey is great, because it challenges us to discover our life purpose…the things that we were given a life to accomplish for mankind, before we leave.

This week, I began a small group study at my church, called ‘Rooted’ which actually started in Nairobi, by Pastor Wanjau.  In doing my lesson for this week, I read about God’s plan from the beginning…….which was very beautiful and glorious.  “Everything about God’s creation was ‘good.’  There was no conflict, no destruction, no disease or pollution.  The Hebrew word ‘shalom’ which is usually translated as ‘peace’ captures God’s intent for creation.  Shalom means ‘wholeness, unity, integration, and harmony’ which is the way God intended it to be.”  Something definitely went awry, from the intent God had for each of us, and we are on a journey of a lifetime to discover the purpose to life…our lives.  So, here we are, holding 3 x 5 cards, reading  ‘I am whole, perfect, strong, powerful, loving, harmonious and happy’ which reminds me of the ‘shalom’ God intended for our lives.

What do I Believe?

In our lives, there have been many voices that have told us all, many different things.  Messages that were hurtful; some that were painful and devastating; some that were positive and encouraging. The messages that we repeated over and over in our mind, long after the messenger was gone, have made their mark upon us.  Unfortunately, it’s easier for us to orient to the negative much more easily.  But the fact that we can ruminate and think, makes us unique. It is very true! We are unique and are God’s greatest miracle.  We are His ‘crowning achievement’….His masterpiece! Those are His words, and His words are always true.  We have a choice, yet it seems more comfortable to muse over the unlovely words spoken against us and allow it to influence our emotions and our lives. But, there is hope since we can think, if we think upon things that are true and life-changing! God has told us that we are to meditate on.  ‘Whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace (shalom) shall be with you.’ Philipians 4:8,9.

‘Shalom’ be the journey!
